Due to lack of
participation, CPAHA is ending the Futurity. We will only accept
re-nominations until all foals nominated in 2004 for the 2005 Futurity have
reached the limit OR until no re-nominations are made.
RULES
& REGULATIONS
A.
Eligibility
-
The Futurity is open to all owners and breeders of Purebred or Half-Arabian
horses who are paid-up members of the CPAHA for the current year. Membership
is from January 1st through December 31st of each year. Membership
dues must be paid before the January 15th Futurity payment is due.

The Futurity will consist of a Purebred Futurity and a Half-Arabian Futurity.
Each Futurity shall consist of seven divisions: Weanlings, Yearlings, Two-Year
Olds, Three-Year Olds, An English Division for Three and Four-year olds, and A
Western Division for Three and Four-Year olds.

The horses must be registered by the Arabian Horse Association in the Purebred
Division or by the Half Arabian Horse Association in the Half-Arabian
Division.

Horses nominated and later sold are still eligible for the Futurity, if the
new owner becomes a member of CPAHA and the proper fees are paid. The fomer
owner should give NAME and ADDRESS of new owner to the Futurity Secretary by
30 days after the sale. Please inform new owner of the Futurity and its
rules.

Futurity entries need not be shown each year. However, they must be kept
eligible each year by making all necessary nominations and payments. No horse
may be nominated for the first time as a yearling, two-year old, three-year
old, or four-year old. NO REFUNDS will be made for any reason. All dates and
payments will be strictly enforced.
B.
How to keep the Yearling,
Two-year old, Three-year old and Four-year old eligible

All conditions and requirements for the weanling or previous years
renominations must have been fulfilled and the appropriate form and the
renomination fee of fifteen dollars ($15.00) sent to the Futurity Secretary by
January 15th for each year. Enclose a copy of your registration
papers (both sides).
C.
Prizes

The value of the prize fund of the Futurity each year shall be the total of
money paid in as re-nomination fees, show fees, sponsorships, and any added
donations. Individuals, firms, or businesses may sponsor specific Classes or
Divisions in the Futurity.

The Purebred funds shall be applied to the Purebred Divisions and the
Half-Arabian funds to the Half-Arabian Divisions.

The prize fund monies shall remain in each division as received: Weanlings,
Yearlings, Two-Year Olds, Three-Year Olds, Four-Year Olds, Three and Four-Year
Old English Division, and Three and Four-Year Old Western Division.

In each class of the divisions, the winner will receive 35% of the prize fund
from that class; Second 25%; Third 20%; Fourth 13%; Fifth 7%. Classes with
less than five horses will be paid as follows:
A four-horse class will
pay the winner 40% of the prize fund for that class; Second 30%; Third 20%;
Fourth 10%.
A three-horse class will
pay the winner 50% of the prize fund for that class: Second 30%; Third 20%.
A two-horse class will
pay the winner 60% of the prize fund for that class; Second 40%.
A one-horse class will
pay the winner 100% of the prize fund for that class.
D.
Showing Rules and
Regulations

Division Classes
a.
Yearlings – Yearlings will
show in two classes: Fillies and Colts /Geldings. Horses in the
Yearling Classes shall be shown unshod with a show halter.
b.
Two-Year Olds – Horses in
this division will be shown in two classes: Fillies and
Colts / Geldings. Horses may be shown shod and shall be shown with a
show halter. IAHA shoeing rules will be followed.
c.
Three-Year Olds – Horses in
this division will be shown in two classes: Fillies and
Colts / Geldings. Horses may be shown shod and shall be shown with a
show halter. IAHA shoeing rules will be followed.
d.
Three and Four-Year Olds
English Division – will be shown under saddle. IAHA shoeing rules and equipment
regulations will be followed.
e.
Three and Four-Year Old
Western Division – will be shown under saddle. IAHA shoeing rules and equipment
regulations will be followed.
2.
All Horses will be subject
to AHA and USEF rules and regulations regarding whip marks, proper equipment,
artificial coloring, evidence of use of forbidden substances (e.g. Ginger),
correct hoof length and shoes. Rule violations will result in the horse being
disqualified from the class.
3.
The Halter and
Performance Futurity will be held in conjunction with the Central Piedmont
Arabian Horse Show held in Raleigh NC in August.
